The Conscience Kit
At the center of ESS is the Conscience Kit, the layer that keeps the AI accountable. Every read or proposed change goes through it, and:
- every action is logged to an append-only record that you own,
- every change the AI proposes is a readable before-and-after, approved by a named person,
- when the system flags something, it can show you why.
You're not trusting a black box. You can check what it did.
One interface, many systems
ESS talks to your business systems through a single connector interface. The first connector is designed for the accounting software small and mid-sized companies already use. More connectors will follow. The ESS ledger, when it arrives, is one more connector behind the same interface, so moving onto it is an import, not a rewrite.
Built in stages
- Read and explain. Connect to your current books, read-only, and make sense of them.
- Business in a box. One install: the kit, the connector, your local log, and backups, including an encrypted off-site copy and a restore test you can watch pass.
- Our own ledger. A full ERP on open-source foundations, built after the first stages have taught us how real businesses keep their books.
Open source, on your hardware
The ESS core is open source, and so is our AI layer. ESS runs on your own hardware. AGIS earns its living by building, integrating and training ESS for you, not by holding your data.
ESS is in active development. We'll show you the parts that exist today.
